Is the Internet to Blame for Hollywood’s Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) Approach to Shot Lengths?

Ivan Campos | 08.28.07 | Comment?

The Infection Greed Blog has an interesting post on the current attention span of the domestic movie audience as a whole. This story is backed up by a graph that depicts the steady decline of U.S. movie shot lengths over the past two decades. This article also begs the question, what is at the root of the ever decreasing shot lengths? Is it TV? Home Video Fast Forwarding? Music Videos? The Internet? A combination of the aforementioned? Whatever is behind the steady decline, expect the graph to continue its downward trend as YouTube, vlogs, and RSS/ATOM feed aggregators permeate our ever increasing culture of Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD).
