ESPN.COM >_ Bill Parcells signed a four-year contract with the Miami Dolphins to become the team’s executive vice president of football operations on Thursday.
Parcells faxed the contract to the team, less than a day after turning down an offer to join the Atlanta Falcons.
“He has a proven track record of success everywhere he has been in the National Football League,” Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga said Thursday afternoon. “And his football acumen will help put the Miami Dolphins franchise back among the elite of the NFL.”
The two-time Super Bowl champion coach will report directly to Huizenga, whose affinity for big-name help now has led him to Parcells — a 66-year-old former coach of four NFL clubs who owns a home in South Florida and now has a job there, too.
On Wednesday, the expectation around the league was that Parcells would take over in Atlanta. By the afternoon, however, the deal had fallen apart, and the Dolphins moved quickly to get Parcells to sign a contract.
“I’m honored to join such an illustrious franchise as the Miami Dolphins and to work for one of the best owners in the league in Wayne Huizenga,” Parcells said. “He shares my same commitment to winning, and I told him I would do everything I can to help turn around the team’s fortunes.” (more…)

The Dolphins continue their chase of historical futility. Another pathetic showing and in a sign of desperation, the Fish actually started Ricky Williams… Ricky did so well that he is now out for the season… The 2007 Dolfans don’t deserve a winless team, but this team and coaching staff deserve to be 0-11. Such a waste of Zach Thomas and Jason Taylor… With no plan in sight, Cam Cameron may not get enough time to prove out his strategy which includes drafting a kick returner with our number one pick, trading away our top receiver for a second round pick, and hoping that John Beck is not just another QB in the shadow of the great Dan Marino. Well, the Dolphins play in the #1 Draft Pick Bowl this coming week against the also sorry J-E-T-S.

The Miami Dolphins are now the only team in the NFL without a 2007 regular season win. The 0-9 Fish are just pathetic. The top pick in next year’s draft will not be enough to turn around the mess that Cam Cameron is responsible for. Up next, the Dolphins will be in Philly looking to up their winning percentage to .100. Hopefully, Cleo Lemon and company will visit the Linc and make Lemonade…

Bollocks! The blokes from Miami (0-8) took a royal beating from the bloody N.Y. Giants. It’s worth mentioning that the little nipper, Teddy Ginn, Jr. caught his first NFL touchdown–Cheers #19! The rest of the Fish played like rubbish. Our chaps have an upcoming bye week as we anticipate the 2008 NFL Draft.
